Australian Spotted Ducks
Contrary to its name, the Australian Spotted duck was first bred in the US. It is a bantam breed weighing about 2 pounds when full grown. They will lay a cream, blue or green eggs that are of considerable size in comparison to the duck's diminutive size. These attractive ducks will have a solid colored head, light neck ring and flecked body. There are three recognized colors, Silver, Green and Bluehead. My flock of laying hens produces all three colors.

Their wings are made for flight so if you do not want them to stray you should clip the flight feathers of one wing. Most ducks prefer to stay where they feel safe however.

They are voracious foragers and love to pick out all the slugs and snails they can find in their run. They will also eat mosquito larva, so they are excellent for pest control.
